Weekly Kona Rainbow Pick (WKRP) Makalei Estates

Amazing Makalei Estates coastline view

This week’s WKRP is a 4 bed/4.5 bath home in Makalei Estates (MLS# 242243) priced at $1,550,000. Makalei Estates is one of my favorite gated communities in North Kona, located at a cool 1,300-1,500 foot elevation with 3 acre plus lots and views beyond the imagination. There were a couple other homes on caravan this week in this price range, but this home stood out even though it is priced lower than the competition.

The quality features throughout the entire home draw you in: Afromosia wood cabinets, doors (including the pocket doors to bring the outside in), moldings and trim in all the rooms, granite counter tops, travertine and teak wood floors, Pella casement windows with retractable screens, Wolf 4-burner gas stove/oven with griddle, sub-zero refrigerator, Jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom, and outdoor shower in a garden courtyard setting.

The list goes on and on…It even includes a full-size wine cooler as well as front loading washer and gas dryer off the kitchen!

Fabulous kitchen with Wolf gas stove, sub-zero refrigerator, granite counter tops, and Afromosia wood cabinets

Outside, there is a built-in BBQ area off the main living area plus a separate 425 square foot guest house with its own drive-through 2 door garage. The Monier tile roof, copper downspouts, and 12-station irrigation system top off the 3.12 acre lot with over 400 coffee trees plus a variety of tropical fruit trees.

I could definitely see myself living here…how about you?

Aloha Martha – Makalei is one of my favorites, too! In fact, the first piece of property Dave and I bought on the Big Island was a 3+ acre parcel in Makalei Estates in 2001, which we sold in 2003 to buy Puako. I always envisioned how great it would be to watch the planes land and know that in a matter of minutes you can be down the hill picking up friends and family at KOA! This property with over 400 coffee plants – awesome!!
