Tastes of Hawaii Recipe – Macadamia Nut Baked Ahi From Kauai’s Old Plantation Days

Week 34 – Macadamia Nut Baked Ahi!

Macadamia Baked Ahi Recipe

  • 3 lbs. ahi steaks (1 ½ in. thick)
  • 1 C chopped macadamia nuts
  • 1 C fresh parsley, chopped
  • 4 T melted margarine
  • 5 tsp. lemon juice
  • salt and pepper

Directions

Preheat oven to 350. Place fish in a lightly oiled baking dish. Combine nuts and parsley and pat onto fish. Mix margarine and lemon juice and pour half over fish. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cover dish with foil and bake for 10 minutes. Uncover and pour remaining margarine and lemon juice over and continue baking for an additional 5 minutes or until done. Do not overcook. Serves 6-8.

As mentioned in my first recipe blog, Hawaii is a wonderful mix of cultures and each of these peoples brought with them their customs and foods during the early plantation days. Because we have this rich Hawaiian heritage, I started this running blog that features recipes with a Hawaiian flair.
