Week 30 – Yummy Island Rice Pudding!

Yummy Island Rice Pudding Recipe

• 2 cups rice
• 2 cans sweetened condensed milk
• 8 cups water
• 1 stick of butter
• 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

Rinse rice in a large crock pot, add rice and water. Set crock pot to high for approximately 2 hours, stirring once. Since crock pots vary in time and temperature, taste the rice from time to time. It is done when the water is all gone and the rice is no longer hard. When rice is done, immediately add in cans of milk, butter, and vanilla. Serves 12 people and is truly yummy!

As mentioned in my first recipe blog, Hawaii is a wonderful mix of cultures and each of these peoples brought with them their customs and foods. The early plantation days saw these combining cultures creating foods that are unique only to Hawaii. We thank these early pioneers who planted and nurtured these plantation fields and created many of these amazing recipes.
