Shop Local This Holiday

Small Businesses on Kauai

Here are my top 5 locally owned, small businesses to shop at this holiday season.

1. Acend Photography

Alyssa was raised here on Kauai and is absolutely amazing behind the camera. She does everything from family portraits, weddings to professional headshots. She is patient and energetic with children, which in my experience is hard to find. Whether you’re in need of a new family portrait or you feel like giving the gift of memories to a friend, you cannot go wrong with Acend.

2. Aloha Aina Juice Bar

You can read all about Misha on her website. The one thing I absolutely love about Aloha Aina Ohana is that they live up to their name. Aloha Aina translates to “love the land.” They use locally sourced ingredients, work closely with farmers here on Kauai, and love to support their community. This is where I stop for a quick breakfast and lunch whenever I’m running around in Lihue town. I always leave with a smile on my face and a happy belly.

3. aHonuExperience

Crystal Pembrook is a Kauai based jeweler and craft designer specializing in handcrafted jewelry & art pieces. I have multiple pieces from her various collections and the quality is unbeatable. If you are on island, you can set up an appointment to see her jewelry studio located on the south side in Kalaheo, Kauai. You can also find Crystal at Kapaa Art Night every first Saturday of the month located in Kapaa Town in front of First Hawaiian Bank.

4. Jane

Jane offers a wonderful selection of lovely gifts and unique home goods. This is a perfect place to stock up on home decor, especially if you are staging your house. If you’re looking for a last minute gift, Jane is the perfect place for absolutely anyone that appreciates quality. Their throw blankets are my favorite!

5. Salt and Sea Kauai

This shop highlights many local artists, seamstresses, apothecary makers, and designers. If I’m in need of a new date night outfit or swimsuit, this is my go-to!

Why Shop Local?

When you buy from a small business vs a corporation, you are helping a little girl get dance lessons, a little boy get new soccer shoes for school or a mom and dad put food on the table. I believe it is important for us to take care of our community. These are just a few of my favorites here on Kauai. I’d love to hear what your favorite small businesses are! Connect with me on my website.
