TEDx Event – A Good Reason to Start Planning Your Next Trip to Maui

One of my favorite things about living in Hawaii is traveling a short distance to neighbor islands to attend great events. I was thrilled to receive an email announcing that the Maui Arts and Cultural Center will be hosting its third annual TEDx Maui event. Each of the Hawaiian Islands have their own unique attractions, so why not combine a fantastic event like TEDx into your next interisland trip to Maui?

I personally am a fan of TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) podcasts, so I am excited to hear that the TED movement is spreading to Hawaii via TEDx. TED’s website defines TEDx as “a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.”

2014 Presenters

According to TEDx Maui’s website, the first five presenters to be announced so far include; Dr. Samuel ‘Ohukani‘ōhi‘a Gon, Dave Kalama, Dr. Maya Soetoro-Ng, Maya Soetoro-Ng. Kerrie Urosevich, Ph.D, and Kimi Werner. Each presenter has their own extraordinary personal story that I am sure will be both interesting and inspiring.

TEDx presenter Kimi Werner caught the world’s attention when her deep sea diving excursions with great white sharks went viral across the internet and in the news. Kimi’s love for the ocean inspires her art and is a true inspiration for the incredible life she lives here in Hawaii.

Additional Information

The Maui Arts and Cultural Center is a fantastic venue for this event. In fact, I highly recommend visiting the center’s website to preview the 2014 event calendar that includes an array of world-class performances throughout the year.
