Big News: West Maui Hospital Breaks Ground

On August 15th, I had the great pleasure of attending the ground breaking of the long awaited and anticipated West Maui Hospital. The facility is planned to be a 25-bed critical access hospital with a 24-hour emergency room, and plans also include a 40-bed skilled nursing facility along with 40-unit assisted living facility. Plans for a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility are included in an additional phase.

The hospital will be located on approximately 15 acres and it is the first hospital built in Hawaii in 20 years. Newport Hospital Corp. and the West Maui Hospital Development Team are targeting Fall of 2018 to have the facility open to the public.

The project’s website states, “The West Maui Hospital and Medical Center campus is designed to be a fully integrated healthcare services provider to meet the basic health and safety needs of the 65,000-plus people who live, work, and visit West Maui.”

Many mahalos to all those who worked so very hard to make this happen. For more information, or if you would like to stay up-to-date on this project, please contact me.

December 2022.
This hospital project was aggressively stopped 6 years ago .
Since then this areas population and tourists has exploded. Another 800 house are approved.
Now it is the end of 2022and a new owner is moving forward with building a hospital at this site.
This hospital would service so many residents and all the ocean rescues.
Hoping for a fire station to be built to service this tourist, residential, vacation rentals, BnBs, Airport, and 800 new homes to be built in this area.
