Youth Sports are Alive and Well on Maui

Youth Enjoying Baseball

Many people considering relocation from the mainland to Maui have families with school age kids. There is concern that leaving behind their community , they will also leave behind youth sports opportunities for their kids.

As a little league baseball coach, I’m here to tell you that youth sports on Maui has never been better. Several of our baseball team
members just completed a soccer tournament on Oahu. Our under 9 Excel team won the Presidents cup for the state of Hawaii. Congratulations!!

We have sent several little league teams to the mainland to compete in regional tournaments and have won several of them. Maui is always very competitive.

This week, 2 of our county girls high school basketball teams will be competing for state championships which is unheard of in the past.

High school football on Maui always sends several players to either a D1 or D2 college with full ride football scholarships.
I am proud to be a part of youth sports on Maui and we have many very qualified coaches who care.
As recently as 06 and 07 we had the privilege of entertaining the Olympic track team discus throwers. They trained and had a tournament at War Memorial field.

They will return for the 2012 Olympics.

Youth sports on Maui are alive and well.

Kevin was telling me there’s an adult league on Maui. I’m jealous. I know there’s softball on Kauai but it’s pretty lax. I miss actually playing.
