Maui Weekly What’s Happening and Real Estate- June 17, 2022

Happy Aloha Friday! This weekend is about dads. Happy Father’s Day to all the great dads out there holding it down. I hope you have a great weekend with your loved ones!

June 11 was King Kamehameha Day, which is always a big deal here in Hawaii. This day honors King Kamehameha I who united the Hawaiian Islands. Luckily, events span both weekends and we still have events to share.

Every year, multiple parades and celebrations take place on all the Hawaiian Islands. See list of events this year by island here. This year’s theme is “E Ola Ka Mo’i Kamehameha — Long Live King Kamehameha” celebrating the 150th anniversary of King Kamehameha Day being designated a holiday.

Nā Kamehameha Commemorative Pāʻū Parade and Ho’olaule’a

This year’s Maui festivities will take place on Saturday, June 18 at 9:45 am on Front Street from Kenui Street to Shaw Street. Following the parade is a ho‘olaule‘a at the Lahaina Banyan Tree at Kamehameha Iki Park. The o‘olaule‘a consists of a pā‘ū awards presentation, food booths, Maui Made crafters as well as entertainment featuring Hawaiian music and Hula. The festivities are scheduled to last until 5:30 pm.

ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE!

Front Street will be closed to traffic starting at 8:30 am from Kenui Street to Shaw Street.

While we don’t have much in the way of nightilife happening this weekend, there are a few family-friendly events taking place.
