Maui Weekend Events – December 16

Aloha, friends! Christmas on Maui is so great and there’s always Festivus for the rest of us! This weekend, we have a Festivus 5K Run on Sunday with course beginning at Kanaha Park. The Maui Jim Maui Classic 2022 also comes to Maui this weekend. Santa arrives at the Whaler on Sunday morning. Maui Mall celebrates all month long with events. This weekend will feature selfies with Santa and a special live performance. Finally, the last holiday event by the Lahaina Restoration Foundation, Snow Zone, takes place this Saturday. Be sure to bring the kids to play in the snow on Maui!

Festivus 5k Run & Keiki Dash

Celebrate Festivus with a 5K run at Kanaha Beach this Sunday. Keiki 8 years and under can register for a half mile dash as well. Day-of registration begins at 6:30 am. The Keiki Half Mile Dash launches at 7:30 and the main run begins at 7:35 am.

Maui Jim Maui Classic

This event brings the nation’s top women’s basketball programs to inspire the athletic and educational aspirations of Maui youth. Games will be played December 17th and 18th at the South Maui Gymnasium in Kihei. This year’s participating teams are OSU, LSU, Nevada, and Montana State.

Jolly Holiday at the Maui Mall Village

Maui Mall Village offers several holiday activities throughout the month at its ongoing Jolly Holiday. This weekend features selfies with Santa and one of his favorite elves and a holiday performance by Halau Hula O Keola Alii O Kekai.  Donations of any size to the non-profit organization Best Buddies in Hawaii accepted in exchange for photo with Santa and Elf. Parents can also take photos of their keiki in Santa’s festive holiday setting at center court.

Santa’s Beach Arrival

Head to Whaler’s Village on Sunday morning for Santa’s arrival at Kaanapali Beach. Santa will arrive on Sea Maui’s catamaran. He will then spend some time at Whalers Village spreading holiday cheer and posing for selfies.

Snow Zone at Campbell Park

The Lahaina Restoration Foundation hosts a few events this month in celebration of Christmas. The Banyan Tree will be lit nightly from 5:30 pm to midnight through the month of December. This week’s feature is Snow Zone on Saturday. Yes, you read that right. Snow on Maui! Mahalo to the Lahaina Restoration Foundation that keeps these events going for our keiki.
