Life Amongst the Tree Tops

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always had a thing for tree houses. I’m not sure if it has something to do with being up high, having a secret refuge, or feeling like a bird while surrounded by nature.

29 Hua Nui Way reminds me of my affinity for tree houses. Nestled in an exclusive gated community off the Lower Honoapi’ilani Rd in Kahana, this property is surrounded by mature areca palms, foxtail palms, and bromeliads. The centerpiece of the front yard is a stately four-tiered water fountain that easily doubles as a bird bath for the neighboring feathered friends.

Seriously, this orchid is just growing on the side of a tree!

Beyond the water fountain, a path leads you to a staircase and the covered front lanai which is showcased by ohia tree trunks. Large enough for a full seating area, this lanai has vaulted ceilings, retractable blinds, and a fabulous chandelier!

The open great room is just beyond the front door and is connected to the chef’s kitchen, which also has vaulted ceilings. Ideal for entertaining, the kitchen is furnished with stainless-steel appliances, an island, gas range, over-sized sink and eat-at bar. Solid wood dark cabinets and granite countertops complete the kitchen and compliment the pale honey-colored bamboo flooring throughout the home.

A multitude of large windows let in lots of ambient light that is filtered through the palm trees, always reminding you of your place within the green canopy. Bamboo blinds provide extra privacy if needed and add to the home’s sophisticated tropical decor.

The master suite of this 2 bed/2 bath, 1,566 sqft hideaway is quite large with a soaking tub, built-in window seat and walk-in closet. The second bedroom can be used as a guest room, office or home gym.

A large uncovered back lanai has an unassuming railing, reminiscent to those of a sailboat. A peek-a-boo ocean view can be seen just through the trees and across the street. Easily accessed by the kitchen hall, the lanai conveniently has stairs that lead to ground level.

Of course every tree house must come with a grassy fenced-in yard, ideal for pets and yard games. And unlike most tree houses, 29 Hua Nui Way comes with central air conditioning, two car garage, and a workshop/storage room.
