Join Hawai’i Life at the 2022 Maui Film Festival, Taking Place this July in Kahului

Here at Hawai’i Life, we are thrilled to support this year’s Maui Film Festival as returning sponsors. Taking place under the stars in Kahului, Maui from July 6-10, 2022, this annual cinematic celebration attracts visitors from across the globe, while supporting the local economy. For the first time, the star-studded festival will be held at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s A&B Amphitheater.

Under the Stars.  Lit by the Moon.  Powered by the Sun.

Every year, cinema buffs mingle with A-list directors, performers, and studio execs in a predominantly open-air setting at this kick-off to the summer. For 2022, the Maui Film Festival has moved from Wailea to the Maui Arts & Cultural Center (MACC). Unlike any film festival in the world, the event features showings of 13 Maui premieres in person and under the stars at the Stardust Cinema. Enjoy five entertaining nights of cinematic artistry on a magnificent, 26’ x 19’ mini-jumbotron wall of color, magic, and light that is as bright as the sun.

This year’s Maui Film Festival is certain to be an unforgettable experience. In addition to the magic happening on-screen, you can fuel your evening with mouthwatering Kau Kau, libations, and onolicious food and beverages. Attendees can also enjoy nightly festivities that include an eclectic mix of live music, dance, Kahiko-style hula, festival tributes, and more in an atmosphere of casual elegance.

Dreaming, Beaming, Streaming

For anyone who wants to stream this year’s films from the comfort of their couch or lanai, the Maui Film Festival presents the Speed of Light Virtual Cinema Experience, July 6 -31, 2022. This year’s virtual cinema showcases an exciting array of over 80 short and feature film premieres from here in Hawai’i and around the world. Stream the films on any device and view them on your smallest (or biggest!) screen, whenever it’s convenient for you.

Hawai’i Life Supports the 2022 Maui Film Festival

At Hawai’i Life, we love supporting the arts and culture through local events. Like you, we live here, we work here, and we want to strengthen community ties. That’s why we’re proud to be sponsors of the Maui Film Festival.

We’re also stoked to sponsor Patagonia’s film The Yin and Yang of Gerry Lopez, directed by Stacy Peralta. Famous for his calm demeanor in the tube, this film tells the full, previously untold story of an entrepreneur, family man, movie star, and yogi whose influence on surfing remains immeasurable.

Barry Rivers began the Maui Film Festival in 2000 to celebrate the art of storytelling at its finest. Now in its 23rd year, the festival honors some of cinema’s brightest and most unique talent, all in a relaxed, island environment. We hope you can join us for this highly-anticipated event.

From July 6-10, MACC’s gates will open at 5pm sharp. All seating is general admission, so come early and find the perfect spot. Bring your favorite blanket or low-back beach chair for the A&B Amphitheater lawn, as bleacher seating in the back of the amphitheater is limited.

Mahalo to the amazing, dedicated team at the Maui Film Festival for working tirelessly to bring us together as a community for five memorable evenings of celebrating the art of filmmaking and the talented individuals who create these films for us to enjoy. We look forward to seeing you under the stars!
