Island Paradise: Discovering Hilo, Hawaii

Tucked away on the East side of the Big Island, Hilo is your tropical hidden gem! A wonderful place full of beautiful scenery and many activities that appeal to everyone! Hilo is where I call home and it is often overlooked by many visitors and tourists! So, I decided to share some of my favorite picks for things to do here in Hilo!

1. Beaches

Hilo is a great town for all things outdoors. Surfing, snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding, or just relaxing on the beach. So let’s go ahead and kick off with some of Hilo’s best beaches! If you’re looking to go surfing, Hilo Bayfront and Honoli’i are the two spots I recommend! However, if you’re just looking to get some sun or snorkel around, I would head towards Keaukaha and check out Carlsmith or Richardsons beach! For kayaking or paddle boarding, Reeds Bay is the perfect spot to paddle out!

2. Parks

Hilo is home to many beautiful parks but the one I want to highlight is “Liliuokalani Parks and Gardens.” There is something so special and peaceful about this place. The views are breathtaking and the trails are great for working out, taking your dog for a walk, or simply getting some fresh air.
