Free Things To Do on Maui

Looking for something to do on Maui on a budget? Here are some things to do on Maui that are FREE!

Snorkeling

The first free thing to do on Maui — grab your snorkel gear and head to the nearest beach. You might see turtles, fish, and coral reefs. Be sure to check the water visibility. Sharks tend to hang out in murky water.

Kihei 4th Friday

Shopping, music, food, art, and fun! Every 4th Friday in Kihei they block off an area of the Azeka Plaza for a town party. There is live music, old cars, and tons of vendors to check out. The other areas of Maui have their town parties on different Fridays of the month as well.

Go for a Hike

What are some free activities on Maui? Go on a hike! Maui has stunning natural landscapes that are like nothing else in the world. And the best part is — there is no entrance fee to many of these hikes! There are over 20 hikes on Maui. My favorite is the Windmills hike. If you do this one, bring plenty of water and wear a hat as there is no shade.

Drive to Hana

Another way to see the beauty of Maui is to drive the road to Hana. Spend the day cruising around the island.

Watch Sunset

How to enjoy Maui to the fullest? Never miss a sunset. The sunsets here are incredible and you will see masses of people, both residents and visitors, gathering on the beach to watch sunset each and every night.

Go to the Beach

The most obvious free thing to do on Maui is to go enjoy the beaches or parks. Go for a walk or swim, or just lay out in the sun, enjoying your surroundings. All of the beaches on Maui are public, and there are over 80 beaches on the island!
