Beautiful Custom Home in Kilohana Waena Has a Lot to Offer

I am going to see a listing in Kilohana Waena that has recently come onto the market. As I pull up to this new custom home at 143 Hoolapa Street, the first thing I notice is the well manicured lawn. I like that while it is beautifully landscaped, it also appears to be low maintenance. The house is finished in a sand-colored stucco with a light green tile roof. The individual wood garage doors and double entry doors add a beautiful accent.

Noteworthy Features

Upon entering the home, the first thing I notice is the beautiful blue of the 25-foot pool that is entirely visible through the all-glass wall of doors at the rear of the living space. It makes the home so inviting and extends the feel of the spacious open floor plan. The pool deck is bordered by a rock wall.

Walking into the living area, I am immediately drawn to the beautiful wide plank acacia wood flooring. Along with the pastel walls, you have the feeling of lightness, air, and warmth. Turning left after the entry, I fall in love with the spacious kitchen.

In my mind’s eye, I see Thanksgiving dinner being prepared by all the family with no overcrowding. There is a professional Kenmore Pro 6-burner gas stove. A real novelty on Maui. Nestled into the lower cabinets is a wood-shelved wine cooler. In line with my Thanksgiving thinking, I am happy to see a Kenmore Elite oven. I can just smell the pumpkin pies.

The white cabinetry is offset by gray toned granite countertops with a large custom bar separating the kitchen from the dining area.

The open floor plan of the living area is complemented by 12-foot soffited ceilings, recessed lighting, and two ceiling fans. Sometimes you just don’t need the central air that has already been installed for those hotter days.

Entering the downstairs master suite, I am pleased to notice a seamless threshold as the hardwood floor flows beautifully into the spacious master bedroom. The ensuite bath has a warm wood vanity complemented by an ivory based granite countertop, full-width mirror, and double sinks.

Ah, the creme-de-la-creme…a very large tiled open rain shower is wonderfully accented with a turquoise bamboo facade running vertically behind the fixtures. It also includes every woman’s dream…a shower-wide tiled sitting area.

The ensuite area has travertine flooring and includes a spacious walk-in closest, a compartmentalized water closet, and a door opening right onto the pool deck! After your morning swim, you can enter the master bath, take a delectable shower, and get dressed without ever leaving the dressing area.

Just off the living room is a half guest bath and access to the second floor. The downstairs area also hosts a nice sized laundry room just off the garage entry.

Heading up the acacia wood-topped comfort stairs, I notice the open feeling of the stairwell provided by stretched accent wiring beneath the square wood banister.

At the top of the stairs, I find myself in yet another large entryway with the additional three bedrooms opening off the sides. The entry area has a built-in storage cabinet along one wall and a skylight overhead.

The first 2 bedrooms have calming pastel walls and beautiful high ceilings. There is a bathroom joining the first and second bedrooms.

The third bedroom is yet another master suite. Off to one side of the bedroom is a private lanai with an amazing view of Haleakala.

The ensuite bathroom has two vanities with white cabinetry, warm gray based granite countertops, and beveled countertop sinks. Continuing the theme of the downstairs master suite is a walk-in closet, water closet, and a double shower with the bamboo accent.

The lovely surprise in this bathroom is the large jetted soaking tub complete with a crystal chandelier!

Outdoor Entertainment

Taking a further tour of the pool area, I find that there is a covered patio area at one end of the pool with a Kitchen Aid grill built into beautiful wood cabinetry. The entire pool deck is travertine and the eaves have recessed halogen lighting. Thoughts of pool parties and the smell of steak on the grill fill my senses.
