Kahalu’u is highlighted by its sheltered cove, great parking facilities, and convenient location make it one of the top beaches on our Big Island snorkeling list.

Manini Beach Park, Honaunau-Napoopoo

Manini Beach is located just South of the Hokuli’a Community. Well known for being secluded, this beach is directly across Kealakekua Bay from the Captain Cook Monument. Manini Kapahukapu Beach Park showcases breathtaking views, calm clear waters, and a relaxing environment for all visitors. This is an ideal location to enjoy the many wonders of the sea as it offers easy entry through the sandy shoreline cutting through the reef. This is a highly recommended spot to explore the extended Kealakekua Bay area away from the various tour boats, kayakers, and crowds.

Ho’okena Beach Park, Captain Cook

Ho’okena Beach at Kauhako Bay, south of Hokuli’a, is a beauty found off the beaten path. With beautiful soft sand, a salt and pepper mix of crushed grey coral and fine white sand. Having strong local ties, the beach community has created a family-friendly environment that is popular with locals and welcoming to visitors. A great location for kayaking, swimming, paddle boarding, and more, this beach is a “must see” on a list of many.
