Waikoloa Village 12th Annual Senior Garage Sale Coming Up October 29, 2011

The Waikoloa Village Senior Center announces its 12th Annual “Biggest and Best” Garage Sale in Waikoloa on Saturday, October 29th beginning at 7 a.m. All proceeds will go to support the activities of our seniors in Waikoloa Village.

For those of you who wish to clean out your closets before the holidays, here’s your opportunity to contribute those items to the sale. The garage sale will begin at 7:00 a.m. and will be conducted at the home of Joan and Pete Hoffmann, 68-1783 Lua Kula Place.

As in previous years, the sale will feature an amazing assortment of kitchen utensils, household wares, clothes, books, golf-related equipment, children’s items, garden and patio stuff, bedding and linens, and other unusual treasures. Please call (808)-883-8547 or (808)-895-0834 for further information, or to drop off items for the sale, or to arrange for pick up.

Until I moved to Waikoloa Village, and as a French citizen, I was not familiar with the act of going to garage sales. It has spawned the use of a new word in my American vocabulary known as “garage saling.” Numerous Waikoloa Village buyers who frequent garage sales are said to be going “garage saling” (or “garage sale-ing”) on Saturdays. They often arrive before hours of the sale to review the items and are known as “early birds.”

Seniors count on you next Saturday. Show up for a good cause, stay for a good time, and happy garage saling!
