Why Own a Vacation Home?

Are you yearning for a change of pace? Do you believe a change of scenery will do you good? Does owning a vacation home in Hawaii sound like something you might be interested in?

Reasons to Own a Vacation Home

There are lots of reasons to own an investment property, a second home, or a vacation rental. Real estate as an investment, especially in Hawaii, is a sound choice. Property values are on the rise and generally hold well over time. If you are looking for income stream, long-term capital appreciation, tax write-off, or if you simply want to diversify your portfolio, buying an investment in Hawaii makes sense.

But, in my personal opinion, the best reason to buy a property in Hawaii is so that you can enjoy it. Yes, owning a vacation home allows you the normal benefits assigned to investment property, but there are other benefits. Benefits like time with friends and family, relaxation, fun, and rest. Intangible benefits that are life-giving and soul-filling.

Recently, I spent the weekend at our vacation rental on the north shore. It was time well-spent. Frankly, it was necessary after a life-draining week. We all have those weeks, don’t we? Weeks when things just seem to go from bad to worse. Times when we feel exhausted, depleted, and discouraged. I don’t know about you, but nothing fills my soul like time with loved ones surrounded by the beauty of creation. Oahu’s north shore is stunning and the sheer magnificence of the ocean, the mountains, the sunrises and sunsets are enough to refuel my tank and re-energize me physically and emotionally.

Your Own Private Oasis

So, what about you? Does having your own private oasis to escape to sound appealing? If so, consider buying a vacation rental (or a second home) in Hawaii. If we’ve learned anything during this pandemic, it is that life is short and it is precious.  It’s important to find balance and to prioritize our time well. Your way of escaping and unwinding may look very different from mine, but I think we can all agree that a change of scenery from time to time does a body good.

Our vacation rental is at Kuilima East. It’s a gated community on the north shore of Oahu situated right next to the beautiful Turtle Bay Resort. If you like to swim, golf, and play tennis, it’s a great place to call home. It’s even pet-friendly! Of course, there are other options on Oahu that might suit your personal tastes better. It really depends on  your lifestyle preferences, and of course, your price range.

Do you envision yourself owning in a luxury beachfront home? A place large enough for extended family and friends to visit? Or does a secluded beach bungalow for two sound appealing? Maybe a simple studio in a high rise condo-hotel in Waikiki is a good fit for you and your budget. Whether you’re dreaming of a charming cottage, a golf course home in a gated community, a waterfront retreat, or a luxury condo, the point is that you dream. Dreams can and do turn into reality. Mine did and so can yours!
