A Whole New World (cue Aladdin & Jasmine) in Kakaako…

Everyone knows Kakaako is the new “cool kid” in town. With the opening of Whole Foods on Queen and Kamakee, that cool kid just became Meghan Markle famous. Armed with a massive free parking garage and the future rail stop just one block away, Whole Foods Kakaako is your new all-in-one date night location in downtown Honolulu.

Their location is not the only aspect of this store’s stardom. Whole Foods is known for their tantalizing hot bars, colorful fresh-cut fruit, gourmet cookie bars and in-store traditional bars. This location takes these aspects to a whole (pun intended) new level.

Eat your Dessert First

Whole Foods’ desserts HAVE to be healthy, right? In a store full of wholesome foods, there sure are a lot of treats. With just the right amount of disillusionment (or just enough alcohol from the bar featuring 24 beers on tap) one can easily fool oneself into that green tea mochi being antioxidant-rich, or that strawberry macaroon into a fiber-full dessert. Believe me, I’ve been there. Tack on a hearty (wait, hearty…or healthy…?) bowl of pork belly mac from the mac n’ cheese bar and you are a health-foodie already!

Rotten Tea

Speaking of health-foodies, all jokes aside this location’s kombucha selection is real. I all but hugged the not one, but TWO kombucha cases upon seeing my all-time favorite flavor straight from Oregon. From what I like to consider a humble world-renowned kombucha flavor opinion acquired over my many years of kombucha tasting, Brew Dr. Kombucha’s Vanilla Oak flavor wins.

Rosé all Day

Literally all day. With five end caps and two shelf sections dedicated to Rosé, the subliminal pink message got the better of me. Walking out of the store with a pretty bottle of Rosé in hand, I was feeling all the summer vibes. Pink is the new White.

You Got Me Bacon You for Mercy…

If you know me, you know my bacon obsession is a problem. Thank you Whole Foods Kakaako for ruining my diet for ever and ever. With five bacon flavors, there is a bacon for every day of the week. Breakfast coffee bacon, jalapeno bacon, maple blueberry bacon, apple cinnamon bacon and bourbon sugar bacon, I’ve died and gone to bacon heaven.

With plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, a shuffleboard and live music almost every night of the week, Whole Foods Kakaako is the perfect place for date night. There is no doubt that this Whole Foods anchors Kakaako and even creates a sense of community with all of the events the store hosts for the neighborhood. It is an exciting time to be in Kakaako.
