West Oahu Traffic – Not So Terrible?

As we continue to see expansive growth on the Leeward side of Oahu, the first thought is always traffic. New restaurants are opening on Fort Weaver, the new mall is open in Kapolei, there are new movie theaters and gyms as well. With all this growth, one must wonder, how bad will the traffic become?

We saw years in advance all these roads and arteries blocked off and not accessible, but now they are open and traffic is flowing.

So, Do We Have Increased Traffic in the Area?

Sure we do, but we also have lots of alternative routes. The engineers have done a much better job in and around these booming communities. We are seeing more traffic lights and increased lane sizes. It’s not perfect, but with all the new development we have less of a distance to travel and lots of different routes available to do so.

Maybe with less people forced to travel H1 for goods, services, and restaurants the traffic will improve on the Highway, but I doubt that will be the case. You can always be hopeful.
