Weekend Happenings – November 18

Aloha, friends! Heading into year-end and holiday season of giving, this weekend offers a couple opportunity to give. Aloha Kalikimaka begins the Christmas celebration and benefits Cancer Pacific Foundation. Additionally, Krank Cycles is looking for volunteers to assemble 400 bikes that will be given to local kids for Christmas. On the art and culture front, The Hawaii Craftsmen Exhibit is at the MACC’s Shaefer Gallery through the end of the year. And lastly, the Hawaii International Film Festival shows at the MACC McCoy studio.

After a two-year hiatus, Aloha Kalikimaka will be held at the Four Seasons Resort in Wailea on November 19, 2022. This event celebrates the holiday season with an evening of cheer, decorative trees, wreaths, and one-of-a-kind silent auction items. Entertainment to be provided by John Cruz and Anthony Pfluke. All proceeds benefit Pacific Cancer Foundation.

Hawaii Craftsmen Annual Statewide Exhibition

This is an ongoing event I wanted to put on your radar since it features our local artists and artisans. The Hawaii Craftsmen Annual Statewide Exhibition opened November 8th and runs through December 23rd on Maui at the MACC”s Shaefer Gallery. The exhibit includes selections from entries and prize winners across the state.  Gallery hours are Tuesday – Saturday, 10 am – 4 pm.

Hawaii International Film Festival

The Hawaii International Film Festival is at the McCoy Studio Theater at the MACC Friday and Saturday. This is truly an international event with about 45 countries featured. The event closes with a showing of The Story of Everything conceived from a theater performance by Hawaii Poet Laureate Kealoha.

 Keiki Christmas Bike Build

For the next few Saturdays, help assemble 400 bikes that will be given to children on Maui. Malama Maui Nui put on by Krank Cycles Maui. Assembly location at the Holy Family Church of Puunene.
