Large square footage in a residential setting has become a Wailea theme in recent years. Papali, Kanani Wailea, and Kai Malu each feature a contemporary, gated single-family theme (none are vacation rental properties) and 1,800-2,400 sf. Kanani Wailea is priced under $1M, Kai Malu $850K to 1.5M, and Papali $2.6M to 3.2M.

This rare Kai Malu short sale (MLS# 337340), a 3 bed/2 bath with 1,796 sf, sports a recent $120K price reduction to $839,000.

Kanani Wailea, meanwhile, offers the lowest price per square foot ($390-403/sf) of any property listed in Wailea.
