Waikoloa's Biggest Easter Egg Hunt

A FREE community event! The kids collected 10,000 Easter eggs throughout Ho’oko Street Park in Waikoloa Village Saturday morning.

It was all about the kids this weekend in Waikoloa Village between the golf tournament to benefit the Waikoloa Elementary and Middle School’s new music program and the Waikoloa’s biggest Easter egg hunt.

As of 2010, Waikoloa Village’s population was 8,216 people, which means if the entire village would have participated in this egg hunt, everyone could have collected one egg. The participants were able to enjoy refreshments and each kid got one free shave ice to cool off.

At the end of the hunt, grand prizes were drawn for each age division. Lucky kids went back home with treats such as brand new bikes, and gift certificates at Target or a seafood buffet to enjoy with their families. It was fun to see smiling faces all over the place!

I’m so glad to have been part of another special day in my town. It was definitely a team effort to make it happen! Kids just had to show up with their own basket, but more than a few volunteer fingers had to fill up the 10,000 eggs.

Waikoloa Village stands out for developing a strong sense of community for children and families. Who said, “it takes a village to raise a child?”

I love Waikoloa Village, I love my Hawaii life!

Aloha Catherine… I believe it was Hilary Clinton who coined the phrase “it takes a village to raise a child…”
