Waikiki Beach Tip – Spend a Day with Diamond Head

Diamond Head…The iconic beauty that can be seen throughout the island. In places like Makakilo, the view is a little far off, and it’s outside your front door along the Gold Coast…

Either way, whether you see it from your front door right in Waikiki, or from the Westside of O’ahu, if you’re living on the island, at some point it’s possible you’ve taken this beauty for granted. So last weekend, I decided to take a break from the real estate world, leave the Leeward side of O’ahu, and spend a day with Diamond Head.

Early in the morning, my husband and I set up shop right in the middle of Waikiki Beach. In front of the Outrigger Reef Hotel, it appears to be crowded with beach boy stands, tourists, and yellow rentable umbrellas. If you just go a little to the right (next to the jetty), setting up your personal paradise is easy. It’s right by the ocean, and the view is all yours…It’s really the best seat in the house. Check it out…

A Few Recommendations

So, whether you’re a tourist, looking for a little piece and quiet, or a local just looking for a quick break to stop and smell the ocean, this is your spot.

We came prepared with our cooler, paddle boards, umbrella, and the view was all ours. It actually felt like our own private beach. It’s amazing how walking a few yards away from the hustle and bustle right outside of a hotel will give you this.

Parking for your own personal paradise is easy too. Ft. Derussy is right across the street, and the Outrigger also has valet with validation available if you are a patron of one of their restaurants.

I recommend anyone and everyone to set up a beach day, right in this exact spot, at least once in your life. Spending a day with Diamond Head will be a relaxing experience, and you’ll end the day refreshed and full of sunshine (literally)!
