Waikii Ranch on the Big Island

Waikii Ranch is a gated equestrian and cattle ranch community on the western side of the Big Island consisting of lots of 10, 20, and 40 acres in size.  It sits in the saddle of the Mauna Kea and Hualalai Mountains with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, ocean, coastline, and Maui.

My love of this community is immeasurable, even though I am not a “horse person.”  From the minute I drive through the gate, it’s a feeling of peacefulness that overwhelms me; the proverbial “country roads take me home…”  (please tell me you remember John Denver) with their giant eucalyptus tree-lined lanes and lush green fields. It’s the climate, privacy, views, trees, weather, and location that entice me. However, the pastures and weather are ideal for horses and cattle and attract people from all over the islands for events at the beautiful polo, equestrian and rodeo facilities.

The elevation of the Waikii Ranch is 3500-5000 ft. which provides ideal year-round temperate conditions in my opinion.  I love the cooler nights and shirt sleeve days.  Now don’t get me wrong; I used to be a beach bunny (oh so long ago) but nowadays, I am more project than beach driven and this moderate climate suits my needs just right!  Gardens love it too. There is no need for AC, and I do love the occasional night fire.

I was recently showing some clients property in the ranch on a beautiful sunny, but cool, bright and early morning.  Short shorts and tank tops may not be the right attire… until a bit later in the day, depending on how hearty you are.  Our Island does have a range of temperatures depending on elevation and time of day. 🙂

While I am simply sharing my own love of the land story;  There is, of course, a wonderful Homeowner’s Association site to glean the details: WaikiiRanch.net

Available lots for sale range from  $268,000-$395,000. Give me a call.. I would love to share my love of the community as I have with recent equally thrilled clients who intend to build their “forever home” asap.
