Talk Story #57 – Newest Plan Revealed Called the “Collection at 600 Ala Moana” in Kaka’ako

Transition of the Kaka’ako neighborhood, between the city of Honolulu and Waikiki, will continue to modernize and fulfill the needs of Oahu’s rapid urban growth. Recently, Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. (A&B) announced their newest plans for the acres owned by Kamehameha Schools.

What is The Collection at 600 Ala Moana?

The Collection at 600 Ala Moana‘ is a major step within their Master Plan for this prime area. Within the next few years, there will be residential high rises and townhomes, affordable housing, and other rental opportunities as required to allow for a vibrant, diversified community along with new restaurants and retail.

Queen Street – an area of transition-new high rises

I have been writing about this prime area in other ‘Talk Story’ articles and living here gives me a wonderful opportunity to watch what is happening. A&B built the Keola La’i condominium high rise at the corner of Queen and South street 5 years ago, and currently, the company has the Waihonua condominium under construction (also on Queen St. but closer to the Ala Moana Shopping Center).

Now is the time to consider either purchasing a current property or reserving a future one in Oahu’s newest and exciting vision of planned development. An area which is already being considered a major core for Honolulu housing. ‘Location’ is the key and this is it. Imagine and realize it, knowing that the City, the ocean and beaches, the excitement of Waikiki, and the Ko’olau mountains are all nearby.

Let’s Talk Story!

In Hawaii, there is often a gathering of family and friends, and in a casual way, stories are told of present and past happenings. We call it “Talk Story.” My continued series are about different places around Oahu with a bit of their history, and the opportunities for you today. I would love to hear about your personal Hawaii memories to share, perhaps during the territorial days, like I was, growing up out ‘Koko Head’ way. Hawaii is a special place and so are the people.
