Yes, this is an adorable ocean view, fee simple, vacation rentable condo, fully furnished and ready to go for $229,000 in Hawaii! I know it sounds too good to be true. If this is what you are looking for, consider something alternative: a ground floor hideaway at the West Molokai Resort (now called Kepuhi Beach Resort) on the Island of Molokai, click here for details on 16B05.

Here is our recent video walk-through:

Keep in mind, Molokai has a population of only 7,400 people and, while residents are friendly and welcoming to those looking for more of an authentic experience, they are opposed to big development and large scale tourism like cruise ships.

How to get there? Take the scenic eight-seater prop plane to Molokai from Honolulu or Maui… flights leave from Kapalua airport, Kahului or Honolulu via Mokulele airlines.

Pass by the stunning 4,000 ft high Molokai cliffs, considered the tallest in the world. This is a very rewarding flight, and during the wet seasons, waterfalls can be seen cascading down the cliffs. The plane ride to and from Molokai is better than any helicopter tour!

Land at the old school Ho’olehua airport on Molokai. Walk off the plane onto the tarmac and grab your bag. You are out of the airport in 3 minutes. Walk to the rental car place across the street where a few cars await you. No lines.

Then slow down and get ready to unplug because on this island, things are really laid back. No traffic lights. No crowds. Check the hours of operation before going to the restaurants… Markets, stores and airport are 15-20 minutes away from Kepuhi Beach.

Imagine the easy life on the Island of Molokai, spending the day on the empty white sand beaches out front looking for shells, making sand castles, fishing or surfing. West Molokai has great spear fishing spots and there is a winter surf break right out front of Kepuhi Beach resort.

Rinse off in the ocean view pool and stroll back to your studio to unwind and sip a Mai Tai on your patio. Or take your steak down to the community BBQ area right out front where you might meet up with a couple of fellow travelers who will be glad to talk story.

Enjoy views of Kepuhi Beach and the iconic Kaiaka rock and year-round sunsets in the ocean. In the morning, stroll down to the beach for a long walk and stop by the sundry store on your way back for a cold guava punch and a snack, where the salesperson will be happy to see you…

Other than that, be ready to prepare your own dinner with your ‘Ohana, maybe grill fish you just caught in the day, play a game of cards and get ready for a peaceful night of sleep. Internet access and a smart TV available in this unit, but don’t tell anyone, and try to unplug for a few days. This place is for people who are self-sufficient and ready for an alternative adventure. On Molokai, you will have time to write that book or finish that big project uninterrupted.

> HI Summer – keep in mind the island of Molokai isn’t really a place to maximize rental income. It’s more of a low-key place to enjoy a quiet stay and possibly rent out from time to time! Please email me: AnnaSeverson@HawaiiLife.com
