Summer Events on Kauai 2024

With so many different events happening this summer, it can be difficult to pick which ones to attend. Here are my family’s top favorites.

May 4th: Paint & Sip

Paint & Sip event at Koʻa Kea Resort on Poipu Beach. This is such a fun event. I’ve been to two since it has started and it is a hands on experience for everyone. Even my mother who is an experienced local artist thought it was a blast. Not to mention, if you don’t have any painting experience, it definitely gets you out of your comfort zone.

May 5th: Cinco De Mayo Salsa Dance Party

Cinco De Mayo Salsa Dance Party at Anaina Hou community park. This is a new event but anything done at Anaina Hou is always a great time.

May 11th: Afternoon Tea Cooking Class

Just in time for Mother’s Day! Learn how to make the flakiest Scones, flavorful Tea Sandwiches, Chilled Spring Soup, Butter Mochi Tartletts, and Panna Cotta topped with Monkeypod Jam. Aletha Thomas, the founder of both Monkeypod Jam and Cooking Kauai, teaches this seasonal class.

June 8th: 2024 Kaua’i Poke Fest

The 4th Annual Kaua’i Poke Fest, named top five food festival in America, returns to Kōloa Landing Resort on Saturday, June 8, 2024. An annual celebration with live local entertainment, food and drinks, and a poke demonstration by James Beard Award winning Chef Sam Choy. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Hawai’i Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund to support the immediate and long-term needs of those displaced by the Maui wildfires. I personally love this event and think it’s a blast of culture enjoyment, good food and fun in the sun!

July 12th: Boogie Board Classic

The 6th Annual Garden Island Boogie Board Classic (GIBBC). This is a Professional-Amateur community-based Contest teaching competitors the long-term value that water sports can bring to their lives by having Kupuna and professional bodyboarders mentor and coach the Amateur Divisions of the classic. It’s a perfect outing if you want to see some action, spend the day at the beach or get some tips from the pros.

July 18-28: 38th Annual Kōloa Plantation Days Festival

This is one of my favorite events. It’s held in Poipu, where Hawai‘i’s first sugar plantation was founded in 1835. It’s a 10-day community celebration that features family-oriented events showcasing the area’s rich history and diverse multicultural traditions. It’s perfect for the whole family. My kids personally love the live music and the rodeo at CJMS. My husband and I enjoy the different varieties of comfort food. For more information, visit KoloaPlantationDays.com.
