Spotlight on Cathy Possedi – Serving Military Families on Her Island Home of O‘ahu

Handing over the keys to clients and saying congratulations to home sellers who have just closed on a sale are two of the highlights of her job, says O‘ahu real estate agent Cathy Possedi. Born and raised in Honolulu, Cathy has spent 14 years serving clients across O‘ahu.

Before launching her full-time real estate career in 2006, Cathy was an estate and retirement planning professional. It was a client-focused business that prepared her well for real estate.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, which she says helps her to understand people and their motives. “I also have a Master’s degree in Social Work, which shows that I am a people person and that I enjoy helping and working with people,” says Cathy. Her education and experience have made her an excellent negotiator on behalf of her clients.

Cathy considers her broker’s license to be her most significant career accomplishment. She passed the broker’s test on the first try, after being in the business for just three years.

Cathy continues to refine her skills and expertise. She is a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and a Military Relocation Professional (MRP). She works primarily with military families and Department of Defense workers relocating to or from the island of O‘ahu.

“My husband was in the military, so I have a connection with military families and a desire to help them as a way to say thank you for serving our country,” says Cathy.

Working with many first-time homebuyers, she says. “I love that I’m helping people achieve one of the biggest goals in their life.” Throughout her career, she has closed about 150 transactions for her clients.

Cathy spent some time living in Illinois with her (now) husband. They returned to O‘ahu to raise their family. “We’ve lived in Kāneʻohe since 2002, which was when our first son was born. We absolutely love living at the base of the Ko’olau Mountain range. We love the year-round beautiful weather and don’t mind the fact that it rains almost daily in Kāneʻohe because the lush area around us is breathtaking, and with the rain, we get lots of rainbows.”

In her downtime Cathy enjoys hanging out with her family, playing board games, hiking, and taking her dog to the beach. “There is no other place like Hawai‘i in the world! I feel blessed to have been born here, raised here, and to have raised my children here. The aloha spirit is truly one of a kind.”
