I’ve lived in the exclusive Baby Beach neighborhood of South Kauai since 1999, where life is all about Hawaiian sunsets, Kauai style. Most days we stroll over to beautiful Baby Beach with our beach chairs and cooler to catch a spectacular sunset.

Some days we walk West to Lawai Beach to watch the surfers before sunset, or to the oceanfront Beach House for a sunset cocktail and pupu, or to Kukuiula Bay to watch the small boats and outrigger canoes as the sun drops into the ocean. Other days we walk East to West Poipu Beach for a refreshing swim before sunset.
On Wednesdays we walk to the Shops at Kukuiula for the Farmers’ Market and listen to the musicians while watching the sunset from Merriman’s Cafe or Tortilla Republic.
Winter months are the best of the best here on South Kauai because the whales are often playing while the sun is setting into the Pacific at Baby Beach, Lawai Beach, Kukuiula Bay, and Poipu Beach.
