8 Enticing Reasons to Buy in South Maui

Maui has so many things to love, but here are 8 reasons you should consider living in South Maui:

1. Beaches

South Maui has more than 20 beaches, each beautiful in their own way. The golden sand begins with the miles of walking beaches in North Kihei to the Kamaole Beaches in central Kihei, which are close to shopping, restaurants, and vacation rental condos. The relaxing resort beaches of Wailea offer luxury and accommodation. Lastly, the amazing beaches in Makena offer privacy and some of the world’s best snorkeling, diving, and water activities.

2. Location

Because of the shape of the island of Maui and how it’s situated in the Pacific Ocean, the South Maui waters are protected from the rough seas of the North facing shores. The waters are usually very calm in the morning hours, which is the best time for snorkeling and any type of ocean travel you prefer: paddle boarding, kayaking, or boating.

3. Weather

The weather in South Maui averages in the low to mid 80’s (F) year round. The majorities of days are bright with full sun and receive very little rain (less than 10 inches annually). The weather in South Maui is what people dream of.

4. Food

There is a wide variety of restaurants in South Maui, from the fine dining resort restaurants in Wailea to the local food eateries and food trucks in Kihei. There is also a new fresh food market in Wailea as well as a farmers market weekly in Kihei. You can also find some locals selling fresh fruit and coconuts on your way to Big Beach in Makena.

5. 4th Friday

For the last 3 years Maui has been holding town parties in various locations. They have settled on 5 locations: 1st Friday is in Wailuku, 2nd Friday is in Lahaina, 3rd Friday is in “Up Country” Makawao, 4th Friday is in Kihei, and in the months with 5 Fridays, 5th Friday is on the island of Lanai. 4th Friday is held in North Kihei at the Azeka Plaza Mauka. Here you will find vendors of all kinds: food trucks, jewelry makers, clothing, as well as various local products. There is always live music on a main stage as well as activities for the keiki.

6. Boat Ramps

A great thing about South Maui is that there are multiple places to launch boats and kayaks. Kihei Boat Ramp is where you can find all of the South Maui snorkeling, diving, and whale watching companies launching from each morning. Makena Landing has many local kayak and paddle board renters who are stationed right there with their trucks full of ocean vessels. Cove Park and the Kihei Canoe Club in North Kihei launch outriggers daily and you can be a part of old Hawaii ocean travel.

7. Vacation Rentals

There are thousands of vacation rental condos and homes in South Maui as well as over a dozen common sites where you can list them for rent on your own as long as you are properly permitted through the county of Maui. You can also use a property manager who will take care of everything for you and all you have to do is block out the days when you want to come and stay. Vacation rentals turn your dream of owning a property in Maui into a business opportunity which can earn you income!

8. Growth

South Maui is growing at good pace. There are plans for more shopping complexes that will put more and more necessities at your fingertips. The growth plan will also accommodate those who wish to buy a new property on the ocean, or as with all properties in South Maui, within walking distance to beaches.
