Rainbows in My Backyard – Custom Built Home on the Big Island

Rainbows are beautiful and sometimes, following them in life can be the key to happiness. I like to think that rainbows come in more than just colorful bands stretching across the landscape. They can also be dreams.  While searching for a place to build our dream home… our rainbow leads us to Hualalai Vistas in North Kona. This newer sub-division shined as the ideal spot for us to build.

We recently completed our personal custom built residence and could not be happier. Check out my earlier posts on the construction process of our home. Now I would like to share with you the latest news on construction around our neighborhood. Many areas of the Big Island are experiencing a boom in new construction, and Hualalali Vistas is no exception. Located just a few miles from Kailua-Kona town and convenient to shopping, schools, restaurants and just about everything anyone would need. Some of the other features and main reasons my wife and I selected this area was for its outstanding coastline views and ideal elevation (1200-1500′).

Hualalali Vistas is made up of forty-five one acre lots, zoned Ag-1 and offers underground utilities (no above ground power lines), paved roads and county water supply. Started by developer HV Associates, LLC, the developing was pretty much halted by the financial crisis of 2007-2011. Since then its been an upward trend as buyers return, recognizing the value and quality lifestyle this subdivision has to offer.

Currently, there are roughly twenty existing homes in the community with approximately four new starts now underway and multiple other prime lots being prepped for construction. For an update on existing homes or vacant lots currently on the market, please contact me.
