In this blog post, I will show you “Oahu’s Leeward Coast” and I will give you a quick peek of a few spots for you to judge to see if this is the right side for you to buy your home and embrace your new lifestyle.
The Leeward side has seen an explosion of construction, both residential and commercial. This area is where you will find newer and larger homes along with a suburban feel, situated at the base of the Waianae Mountains; it is the warmest area of the island. Regardless of the heat, the land is still so rich that Kahumana Farms thrives in this area and is committed to bringing local and fresh meals to your table, they even have a little cafe (I love this place).
The big contrast is seen on this side of the island. You can find plenty of local, humble homes. On the other hand, there are luxurious communities like Ko Olina, which is home to Disney’s Aulani Resort Hotel and the Four Seasons and also features one of the best and newest golf courses along with four lagoons open to the public.
Kapolei is also known as the second city of Oahu they have everything that you need from Costco to DMV…you name it!! They have their own shopping center called Ka Makana Alii Mall that opened a few years ago. They are building the Honolulu Rail Transit system from Kapolei to Downtown that is scheduled to be available within the next five years.
Oahu has so many beautiful hikes! One of my favorite ones is on the Leeward side of the island and is called “West Loch Community Shoreline Park Trail,” and you can ride your bike too!! The best time to go is at 6 am so that you can watch the sunrise reflect off the water.
This blog post is part of a mini-series about Oahu. If you feel curious about any of these areas or you want more specific information about houses in the Leeward Coast. Feel free to call me, text me, or email me. Whatever is more convenient for you.
As always, aloha!
