Protect & Enjoy What You Love – Join Us For A Maui Beach Cleanup on Int’l Surfing Day

A Surfrider Foundation, Maui event sponsored by Hawai‘i Life

Hawaii Life is proud to sponsor the Surfrider Foundation’s International Surfing Day (ISD) on Maui. We’ll be celebrating by rolling up our sleeves for a beach cleanup taking place on the morning of June 15th, 2019 at Baldwin Beach Park in Paia!

“Hawaii Life’s Maui real estate agents are committed to volunteerism in our community and offer support throughout the year to a variety of important causes,” said Josh Jerman, Maui real estate broker and one of our statewide team’s top producing agents. “For the upcoming beach cleanup on June 15th, we’ve recruited local vendors to donate food and refreshments to make it a successful day with strong participation and happy volunteers.”

Volunteers Needed – Sign Up Early to Win!

Anyone can cruise up and volunteer on June 15th, but if you sign up in advance, you can win one of several Hawaii Life swag bags. Visit Surfrider Maui’s Facebook page today for more details and sign up early for a chance to win some free gear, and help make a positive impact on Maui. Not interested in free stuff? No problem. You can still rock up to Baldwin Beach Park on the morning of June 15, 2019.

“There’s plenty of buzz and it’s sure to be an impactful day,” said Josh Jerman.”My keiki jumped at the opportunity to help clean up one of their favorite beaches and lots of families and friends are coming together to contribute.”

The day kicks off with a free (all levels) morning yoga class from 8:30 to 9:30 in the morning, followed by a beach cleanup from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Local vendors will be on hand to supply all event volunteers with a delicious free lunch and refreshments following the beach cleanup. Local vendors already on board include Tobi’s Shave Ice, pizza from Flatbread Company and Paia Bay Coffee for a little morning jolt to kick the day off right. If you’re a Maui business who’d like to donate to this community event, please contact Dave Futch at davefutch@hawaiilife.com.

What is the Surfrider Foundation?

The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education. In Hawai’i, Surfrider Chapters are located on the islands of O‘ahu, Kaua‘i, Maui, and Hawai‘i. In addition to coastal preservation, the Surfrider Foundation’s initiatives are focused on issues close to our heart here at Hawaii Life. These include beach access, clean water, ocean protection and plastic pollution.

International Surfing Day is a global event founded in 2005 by the Surfrider Foundation and Surfing Magazine. It’s held in 200+ locations around the world on the third Saturday of June each year. Learn more about this year’s ISD theme, or read on for more event details!

Ours to enjoy, but also ours to protect. International Surfing Day brings together people across the globe to give back to the ocean and help protect and preserve its natural beauty.” ~Surfrider.org

Protecting Our Coastlines

This year, while we band together on this special day to share waves, the Surfrider Foundation aims to raise awareness of urgent threats to our precious coastline, like new offshore oil drilling. They’re calling on government leaders to officially cancel plans for oil drilling and asking coastal enthusiasts everywhere to join them and voice their opposition.
