Moving To Hawaii? Our Military Specialized Team Can Help

It’s that time again when everyone is receiving their orders for PCS moves. I am lucky to have been able to call Hawaii home, and for those who chose the duty station, or those who have it assigned, you are also amongst the lucky few.

We happily provide advice, support, and peace of mind for you and your family

It’s a stressful time for the military families receiving their orders. Most have to figure out how to sell their current house, relocate their family, and start fresh in a new state. If you are lucky enough to move to Hawaii, I can help. As part of the Hawaii Life Military Specialized Team (MST) I am dedicated to helping military families coordinate a move. Not only do we have some great information on our website, but you can get some real advice from a local resident and agent about the state.

Usually your choice of where to live is centered around where you will be stationed for work. Oahu is relatively small from a milage standpoint, but depending on what time you are needed to be at work can dictate where you live from a traffic perspective.

For example, Ewa Beach is far enough away from the hustle and bustle of town but also close enough to many of the bases. On the other hand, should you be stationed near Kaneohe, then it might be best to find a more central location to call home, such as Mililani or one of the surrounding areas.

Having a local real estate expert definitely helps in this part of your decision making and search. The home inventory is currently tight around the island and it’s best to get a jump on the premium properties now before they are in contract.

Moving can have its complexities, and there are many options for buying now and moving later. At times you might think it’s too early in the process to start looking, but by the time you find a home, get a contract accepted, and start the closing process, usually more time passes than you originally estimated. You also might find someone else that is PCS’ing that wants to sell early and then do a short-term lease back. There are many options for being creative and this is where a great agent comes into play.
