Maui Weekend Happenings – November 11

Aloha, friends! Happy Veteran’s Day Weekend. We have a few events happening this weekend on Maui. For starters, History buffs can watch the story of Kazuo Yamane and the Nisei soldiers of Hawaii in Proof of Loyalty at the MACC. Next, Lahaina 2nd Friday Town Party happens along with Art Night this Friday. Also on the West Side happening all weekend is the Annual Hula O Na Keiki at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel. And finally, The Addams Family opens this weekend at Seabury Hall.

PROOF OF LOYALTY – Film Screening + Q & A at MACC

Proof of Loyalty tells the story of Kazuo Yamane & the Nisei Soldiers of Hawaii. These soldiers had to make the choice of loyalty during WWII. They ended up playing a big role for the Americans in the war. Film screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the film’s directors Lucy Ostrander and Don Sellers.

Lahaina 2nd Friday

Maui Friday Town Parties bring the community together for a pau hana night of music, art, food, and Maui culture.  Friday night is Art Night in Lahaina every week. Each Friday from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm, enjoy special gallery shows, featured artist-in-action and refreshments as you stroll through dozens of art galleries. Lahaina is dubbed “The Art Capital of the Pacific” because it has more art galleries per capita than any other American town. 2nd Friday brings additional local vendors to the party.

The Addams Family at Seabury Hall High School

The Addams Family is a smash-hit musical comedy. This macabre hit is created by a highly accoladed team including Jersey Boys authors Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice. Showing at Seabury Hall beginning November 11th and running through November 20th.

30th Annual Hula O Na Keiki Hula Competition

Kaanapali Beach Hotel hosts the only hula competition for keiki ages 5 – 17. This event has grown over the years from a one-day hula competition to a weekend celebration of culture with local artists, Cultural demonstrations and presentations. Participants in the competition learn, interpret, and perform a Maui chant.
