Maui Weekend Happenings – December 2

Aloha, friends! With Thanksgiving behind us, it’s safe to celebrate Christmas. This weekend on Maui brings a few opportunities to do so! Among them, the Banyan Tree lighting this Saturday. Maui Pops Orchestra performs at the MACC Castle Theater.  If you are inspired by the season to give, you can support food liberation efforts on Maui with dinner by the Makena Golf and Beach Club. And if triathlon (or marathon or half-marathon) is on your bucket list before year end, you have an opportunity this weekend with the Maui Man Ultra Triathlon.

Bike, swim and run South and West Maui. One Iron Distance Triathlon each day Friday and Saturday this weekend. There will also be marathon and half marathon events daily. The exact route is not yet determined. However, we know the course will not be closed and we are looking at a South Maui Ocean swim, South and West Maui bike and the run will be on South Kihei Road. Awards for different categories and door prize for all participants and volunteers.

Maui Pops Orchestra—Holiday Pops

Celebrate the holidays island style this Sunday at the MACC Castle Theater. The Maui Pops Orchestra feature Na Leo Pilimehana in their December 4 show. The trio will be performing some of their most loved songs as well as many holiday favorites. Also featuring members of Halau Kekuaokala auʻalaʻiliahi.

Food Liberation Fundraiser: Nā ‘Ono O Ka ‘Āina

Makena Golf and Beach Club hosts a four-course locally sourced dinner this Sunday to benefit Maui nonprofits’ food liberation efforts. Dinner will take place under the starts with live entertainment.

Lighting of the Banyan Tree

The Banyan Tree Lighting will be this Saturday at 5:30 pm. Be there for the countdown.  The Banyan Tree will be lit nightly from 5:30 pm to midnight through the month of December.  Other events coming up the next couple weeks at Campbell Park include photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus next Saturday, the 10th and a Snow Zone on Saturday the 17th.   Mahalo to the Lahaina Restoration Foundation that keeps these events going for our keiki.
