Maui Weekend Events – April 12

Aloha friends! This weekend on Maui has some family fun options, live music and a cultural workshop. Kanekoa is doing a tribute to the Allman Brothers Band this Saturday night at ProArts Maui. South Maui Gardens hosts its 2nd Saturday community party. The Maui Nui Botanical Gardens is offering an Apu Awa Workshop. And the MACC presents an Observe and Play Day.

Kanekoa at ProArts Maui

Kanekoa is playing ProArts Maui this Saturday night. They will be putting on a tribute to the Allman Brothers Band. Expect some serious jam sessions. Show starts at 7:30.

South Maui Gardens 2nd Saturday

South Maui Gardens – Hidden Oasis of Kihei hosts a community party every second Saturday of the month. This event features several local favorite food trucks and a live performance by Circus Lolo. This weekend, there will be a Night Market featuring local Maui artisans and vendors. This is a free event, but reservations are recommended. You can reserve your spot here.

Apu Awa Workshop

The Maui Nui Botanical Garden is hosting an Apu Awa Workshop this Saturday morning. This three-hour workshop is led by Hawaiian language instructor and cultural practitioner Kukini Suwa. Workshop will consist of creating an ʻapu (implement for drinking ʻawa/kava) from a niu (coconut). You will also learn about the history of awa in the culture.

Observe & Play Family Day at the MACC

This Saturday morning from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, the MACC is hosting Observe and Play Family Day.  This is a free event for the communities. Families are invited to come experience the exhibition Max Ernst: Surreal Mindscapes & Character. Several interactive maker stations will be available outside the gallery for families to create art to take home with them.
