Live on Oahu’s Famous North Shore!

Have you been dreaming of that perfect “beach home” where you can stroll across your front lawn to a wide sandy beach and jump into the blue Pacific Ocean?

Ke Iki Beach

Paradise found! At Ke Iki Beach on Oahu’s famous North Shore, it’s absolutely gorgeous, and arguably one of the best beaches in Hawaii, boasting the best sunsets on the North Shore, as well as the most amazing waves in winter and the best swimming in summer.

There’s a very laid back, island-style way of life on Oahu’s North Shore that can’t be put into words. You need to experience it first hand to really appreciate all of its wonderful offerings.

Upon moving to Hawaii in 1988, my first home was on the North Shore where my husband and I resided for over 14 years. We’ve since moved into “Town” but visit almost every week.

My two, now young adult children, were born and raised there. Waimea Falls Park and Sharks Cove were their playgrounds! Surfing, swimming, and hiking were our common family weekend outings. My youngest (now 23) recently took up residence there again!

An artist myself, I was thrilled to be living near the many galleries in Haleiwa town where many local artists’ works are displayed, including mine during that time.

Surf Culture

The surf culture, which dominates a big part of life there, adds an anticipated excitement every fall and winter, bringing some of the biggest waves you’ll ever see, as well as the world’s best surfers to compete in the Triple Crown of Surfing. I even let my kids skip school when Quicksilver’s Big Wave invitational “The Eddie” in Memory of Eddie Aikua at Waimea Bay is held.

Laid-Back Lifestyle

Although it has changed some since I lived there, it is still a laid-back, country lifestyle. There are many farmers’ markets featuring local produce and tropical fruit like papaya, mango, bananas, and coconut picked just that day. There’s also ready to eat food, homemade jams, local honey, and work by local artists and artisans. Many eateries line the North Shore from Waialua to Kahuku, featuring famous restaurants, local food trucks, and bakeries. Matsumoto Shave Ice, known for miles near and far, was always a favorite of my family!

The North Shore has so much to offer: untouched natural beauty, beautiful beaches, world-famous waves, and surf breaks. The vibe is unique!
