Progress is being seen! Construction of 4 model homes and a sales office are nearly complete at the $40 million Kamakoa Nui affordable housing project in Waikoloa. My recent blog about Kamakoa was forecasting an opening of the model homes by this month, it is getting closer.
This past Friday, Hawaii County accepted proposals for furnishing the structures. The County purchasing manager collected an undisclosed number of responses to the County’s request for proposals to furnish the 5 structures. None of the information will be made public until a deal is made with the winning proposer. A panel from the Office of Housing and Community Development will be in charge to make the final decision.
So in a couple of weeks, I will be able to announce in a new blog the award winner. A request for proposal calls for qualified contractors to complete interior design, delivery and installation of furnishings, accessories, wall art, Hawaiiana-style accessories, and local school items.
The RFP states, “The homes need to reflect a lived-in and welcoming atmosphere as you enter. The materials and colors proposed will need to be vibrant, yet warm and inviting.”
There is always something happening in my neck of the woods and I love to capture these moments. Until then, stay tuned for more Waikoloa Village news!
