Ewa Beach has always been known for being on the hotter, dryer side of the island. This was potentially something the Florida developer, DeBartolo, did not take into account when they designed the Ka Makana Ali’i Mall. It certainly feels quieter than most Hawaii shopping centers. New permits have been pulled by the developer to go back and retro fit some sort of shade cover for the center. Possibly the lack of air conditioning and shade is turning some of the shoppers out west to different shopping centers. The mall is beautiful and certainly something the residents of Kapolei and Ewa Beach had been needing for a long time. As the island and this mall is set to get a brand new Cheesecake Factory, I am sure all will be done to keep the restaurant goers happy and shopping.
