HLCF Participates in Chocolate Laulima – A Community Giveback Program

The Hawai‘i Life Charitable Fund (HLCF) has partnered with Maui Ku‘ia Estate Chocolate (MKEC) in an innovative online fundraising campaign called Chocolate Laulima

By purchasing individually wrapped pieces of MKEC chocolate (in either 25-piece or 50-piece gifts bags), you’ll be supporting a local Maui business while also donating to the Hawai‘i Life Charitable Fund.

The HLCF is administered by the Hawai‘i Community Foundation in Honolulu. Each year, the HLCF supports the efforts of local nonprofits across the state through grant funding. You can read about some of the organizations we’ve helped to support here, here, here, and here

With every online purchase of Maui Ku‘ia Estate Chocolate (MKEC), you’ll be helping to strengthen the support that the HLCF provides to nonprofits across the state. Laulima means “many hands working together” and the concept aligns with the HLCF mission to work to preserve Hawai‘i’s beauty and culture by supporting its people.

Forty-percent of proceeds from chocolate sales at this custom webpage will be donated to the Hawai‘i Life Charitable Fund at the Hawai‘i Community Foundation. According to MKEC’s recent press release, “Chocolate Laulima supports secular nonprofit organizations that directly improve the Maui and broader Hawai‘i community in the areas of Education, Social Services, Healthcare, Arts and Culture, Animal Welfare, Environmental Conservation, and Agriculture.”

Maui Ku‘ia Estate Chocolate currently offers a socially-distanced tasting experience in their open-air pavilion, which features 360-degree views of the Pacific Ocean and Mauna Kahalawai, including a view of the hillside where Maui cacao is grown and harvested.

Local businesses and nonprofit organizations need your support now more than ever. We encourage you to pick up a sweet treat today or donate directly to the Hawaii Life Charitable Fund at this link.
