Hawaii Life Supports This Year’s Maui Film Festival Taking Place June 12-16, 2019 in Wailea

Here at Hawaii Life, we are thrilled to be one of the many sponsors supporting this year’s Maui Film Festival, taking place under the stars in Wailea, Maui from June 12-16, 2019. This annual celebration of cinema’s luminaries supports the local economy, brings visitors from all over the world, and is a highly anticipated kick-off to summer for those lucky enough to call themselves Maui residents.

This unique annual festival, now in its 20th year, celebrates short and feature film artistry and draws a rapt audience of cinema buffs, as well as A-list performers, directors and studio execs to the mostly open-air event each year.

On the film festival’s website: Adam Driver, Clint Eastwood, Colin Farrell, Jessica Chastain, Bryan Cranston and Laura Dern were just a few of the famous faces we noted! Other past attendees include Kristen Bell, Evan Rachel Wood and Lupita Nyong’o.

“Under the Stars.  Lit by the Moon.  Powered by the Sun.”

The Maui Film Festival features nightly showings under the stars at Celestial Cinemas as well as indoor showings at Castle Theatre, within the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. The festivities include movie premieres, tributes and awards (check out the Maui Film Festival website for a full list of this year’s award recipients). As one example, this year’s Nova Award Tribute will be presented to actor Paul Rudd on June 12.

Toes in the Sand Cinema at Wailea Beach includes a presentation guided by renowned Canadian scientist, broadcaster and environmentalist David Suzuki, where his new film Beyond Climate takes viewers beyond the headlines and into the heart of climate change issues.

Complementing what’s happening on-screen, attendees can enjoy film panels and an array of delicious tasting events. The Taste of Summer kicks off the festival oceanside at the beautiful Wailea Resort. Indulge in your favorite antioxidant-boosting dessert at the Taste of Chocolate being held at the Four Seasons Resort Maui,  or sample the best of the best of Maui’s culinary talent at the Taste of Wailea while the sun sets below the hillside at Wailea Golf Club.

Please visit the Maui Film Festival’s tickets & passes webpage for more information on their many event packages. With fun names like Twilight, Stardust, Cosmos, Galaxy and Big Bang, there’s sure to be a ticket and passes to fit your needs.

We hope to see you there!
