Hawaii Life Appoints Roy Vandoorn as a Broker-in-Charge on Maui

Hawaii Life Maui broker Roy Vandoorn has stepped into the role of Broker-in-Charge. Roy joined the team at Hawaii Life in early 2019. “I get great satisfaction out of helping people,” said Roy,” which is one of the reasons I am so excited about my new role with Hawaii Life.”

Roy brings a comprehensive set of knowledge and experience with county and state legislatures, and will help to keep Hawaii Life’s brokers and agents apprised of legislative activity that may impact our clients and salespeople. Roy’s expertise stems, in part, from his work as Chairperson of the Tax Subcommittee at the Hawaii Association of Realtors. He’s also served on his community’s HOA and the board of private water companies.

In his new role, he’ll also be active in statewide Broker-in-Charge duties, as he jumps in to help cover weekends on a rotating schedule with the rest of our leadership team on Maui, and across the state.

A long-time Maui resident, Roy moved to the Valley Isle from Santa Clara, California — the heart of Silicon Valley — in 2003. He has been a licensed agent on Maui since 2008 and obtained his broker’s license there in 2012.

He credits his mother for his passion for real estate because she loved to bring Roy with her to visit open houses when he was a child. At 18, he helped remodel his family’s home, sparking a dream to one day build one of his own.

These days, you can find Roy putting the finishing touches on his newest home and planning a family farm with his wife Melissa Young, a Maui jewelry designer.

Congratulations to Roy on his new role! If you’d like to learn more about him, check out his webpage here.
