Haiku Maui’s Brando Estate is Ready for its Close Up – On Video!

The Wild One: Have you ever dreamed of escaping to a tropical island and living off the grid in a paradise of your own? To a lush green wonderland with colorful scented flowers and exotic fruits, with wild boars roaming in the gulches? Sandy shores are not far away. It’s right here and right now, on the north shore of the best island in the world — in Haiku, Maui. And, it’s for sale.

The Movie Trailer:  Take a quick peek at what you’ll see when you boldly go where Marlon Brando discovered his sustainable getaway. While not exactly on the waterfront, the rugged Pacific ocean is within walking distance at the very end of the road.

480 Puniawa Rd. encompasses 26.7 acres with open meadows, riding trails, gulches, and pristine tropical forest.  Outstanding ocean and mountain views can be enjoyed from many varied building sites, each with unique characteristics and privacy. The custom built 3bed/2bath 2-story pole house commands views from sea to mountain and truly 360 degree vistas. Look around at the extensive open space in all directions, providing privacy and independence.

The Movie:  This unedited 3 minute video takes a literal spin over the whole property, which you’ll see bounded by Puniawa Road on one side, and a deep gulch on the opposite side. The top or “mauka” end of the property is where the house and garage are located, overlooking the vast estate. The “makai” or seaward boundary is about 1/4 mile away next to a cluster of neighboring homes, which are also off the grid. A newly built road cuts across the bottom to open up a possible building site perched on the edge of the Honopou Valley. This whole Honopou, Honokala area is completely detached from county power and water so residents are very self sufficient, forming a tightly knit community. It’s a satisfying lifestyle — to have what you need right at hand. Water from the sky and ground. Power from the sun and wind.

Apocalypse Now:  What can you do with 26.7 acres in the country in this part of Haiku?

  • An equestrian estate or horse sanctuary
  • Raise cattle and livestock
  • Grow fruit trees
  • Coconut plantation
  • Tropical flower farm
  • Honeybee and honey production
  • Build more homes and outbuildings
  • Hunt for wild pigs and pheasant
  • Have a swimming pool and tennis court
  • Build a bomb shelter
  • ALL OF THE ABOVE – there’s so much space!

If this is going to be your Last Tango in Paris, what better way to kick back and enjoy all that Maui has to offer.
