If you’re looking for a gated community in East Honolulu, I’ve got 2 great listings for consideration:
1. Kahala Kua Executive Home
5257 Kuaiwi Place (MLS# 201514568) listed for $1,638,888
Kahala Kua is a sleeper of a gated community, first developed in the late 1990’s. There’s typically not much inventory as it’s a much smaller development when compared to Waialae Iki V or Hawaii Loa Ridge. We originally came online at $1,728,000 and we’ve since come down $90,000. There was a reverse floor plan of ours that sold for $1,680,000 in the fall, which is making ours look very attractive.
A waterfall and calming ocean views are some of the perks of this private home
What’s extra special about this home is the feeling of privacy. In addition to living in a gated community, the home is situated on a downslope and lushly landscaped. You have a calming waterfall as you enter and the first thing that takes your breath away are the ocean views. Although you don’t get a sunset from this part of the ridge, it’s also an ideal location because you don’t get the afternoon heat. It’s also buffered from the heavy trade-winds from the neighbor on the east, so you don’t get as “wind blown” as other homes on the ridge.
2. Peninsula at Hawaii Kai Cottage Town Home
The Hawaii Kai Peninsula offers some great amenities
I’ve also got a fabulous listing at the Peninsula in Hawaii Kai. It’s a gated community that has some nice amenities such as a swimming pool, club house and fitness center. It’s the perfect option for someone that wants low maintenance and they can lock up and leave if they travel a lot, or to own as a second home. The cottage units (like the one I have listed) are quite spacious. Although they’re technically attached townhomes, I’ve seen some agents try to sneak them in MLS as single family homes…
Peninsula Cottages are attached with their own enclosed yard
Hawaii Kai Peninsula #325 (MLS# 201522162) interior offers a modern lifestyle
Included in the maintenance fees are all the amenities I’d mentioned earlier, plus internet and cable! If you want something in East Honolulu, that’s turnkey under $1 mil, this is one of the more spacious, comfortable alternatives to single family living out there.
