Farm, Food, and Flower Festivals on Maui this April

So you want to be a farmer on Maui? Come and see how it’s done.

Spring is here, and the growing season is heating up. Maui has the perfect climate for growing all kinds of food crops, flowering plants, and ornamentals year round. With the passing of the sugar industry, there’s a whole new interest in alternative farm products and practices, and a resurgence of young people who want to try their hand at farming. What a great time to learn about our local farms, and have fun at the same time.

Here are a couple of fun events and activities for the whole family to enjoy this month:

Maui County Ag Festival – In its 11th year, this event is growing rapidly and is hosted by the Maui County Farm Bureau. Start off with a pancake breakfast, bingo, and a raffle. Spend the rest of the day exploring the beautiful grounds at The Maui Tropical Plantation while meeting farmers and learning some tips. You’ll also enjoy the farmers market, food booths and trucks, farm tour by tram, and live entertainment. The Grand Taste is a way to try some of our best Maui chef offerings in the afternoon, for an added fee. The expanded keiki (kids) zone offers pony and horse rides, bouncy castles, and a livestock exhibit.
