Equity Means Opportunity

Do you own a home in Hawaii? If you do, you know that prices have escalated greatly. Does knowing that you have experienced a rapid increase in equity cause you to think about your choices and opportunities?

Homeowners Motivated to Sell

According to the 2022 Buyer and Seller Insights Report released by HomeLight, more homeowners are being motivated to list their properties for sale, saying they have high expectations for a profitable sale. In fact, according to the survey, 24% of homeowners cited rising home prices as their motive for selling. Many homeowners are making quick decisions to sell due to the competitive market and escalating prices. Surprisingly enough, 10% of those surveyed had no idea where they were moving after they sold.

I guess all that equity is pretty enticing, at least for some homeowners. If you’ve owned your property in Hawaii for a while (even a little while), you’ve probably got some good equity in your home. Equity that can serve you well, if you choose to let it.

Of course, you may not be motivated to sell just because it’s a good market. But, if you are dreaming of a lifestyle change, now is a great time to take advantage of the newfound equity in your home. You may want to sell so that you can use the profit you make on your home for things like travel, retirement, healthcare, or perhaps to fund something you are passionate about.

Does knowing that you can sell and pocket a chunk of change cause you to ponder the possibilities?

Recently, I sold a home for some dear clients who did some pondering themselves. They thought about the next 20 years of their lives and how they wanted to live them. They are now living their dream in the Pacific Northwest. We were able to sell their home at a great price. A price that allowed them to buy a beautiful home in Washington with enough leftover for travel and retirement. My clients love Hawaii, but they love their new lifestyle more. A lifestyle that will let them visit Hawaii often and will afford them the luxury to truly enjoy it when they are here.

Let’s face it, a lot of people work really long and hard to live in paradise. I love Hawaii and I don’t think there is a more beautiful place to live, but mortgages, school tuition, and the cost of living can actually keep us from living. Or, at the very least, from living well.

Is a lifestyle change in order?

What about you? Are there opportunities you can take if you sell your home? I don’t advise anyone to sell their home unless they have a wise plan and a good purpose for doing so. But, I will say that sometimes taking advantage of the timing of the market and your equity position makes sense. It certainly made sense for my clients who are now living their dream. They haven’t looked back and still say it’s the best decision they ever made.

If rising prices are motivating you to sell, you aren’t alone. Many Sellers are freeing up equity to discover new pathways to living better lives. Fuller lives. Freer lives. What about you?
