Moving To Hawaii

The BIG Move to Hawaii – Building a New Beginning

Making the Move to Hawaii

It all started back in 1993. My wife Audrey and I were ready to escape the frigid winters and fast-paced world of New Jersey. Kailua-Kona Hawaii was our relocation destination. How we found Kona is a long story but we are sure glad we did. The Big Island has everything we could ask for and more including year-round tempered climate and a vast array of microclimates to choose from on any given day. It was the world-class sportfishing that checked my box for favorite hobby. The slow-paced island lifestyle was also there, offering us the chance to take time and smell the beautiful tropical flowers surrounding us.

On February tenth, with nothing more than a few suitcases, a backpack filled with beachwear, and a boom box we exited the plane at one of the most unique airports we had ever landed upon. Fast forward to 2021 and a quick look back — we have built three custom homes for our personal residence in three unique West Hawaii communities.

Setting Up a Home in Hawaii

The challenge of scouting out a vacant lot, designing a custom home, selecting the right builder, and surviving the start to build through completion process can be a bit daunting, to say the least. For me, I’m ready to do it all again! I love the smell of fresh-cut wood in the morning. The sight of a new homecoming up from the ground and the happy faces of new homeowners that made their dream come true is truly satisfying to me.

Do You Dream of Moving to Hawaii?

That’s exactly what happened with Ed & Janet from Chicago. They contacted me at Hawaii Life and shared their wish list and desire to build a home in Kona. After researching several areas and vacant listed lots, they selected one of Kona’s premier subdivisions as the ideal location to fit their needs. Thorough research on the internet was how they selected their own architect and builder to work with on the project. I was able to help them find a nice rental so they could complete their move and monitor the build as it came along.

In less than one year they were ready to occupy their beautiful home and begin the island lifestyle some only dream of. That’s what I call “living the dream.” Do you have that kind of ambition? I would be happy to help. Contact me for more information.

Hi Ed,

I have been dreaming of moving to Hawaii, namely Kauai, for way too long. I am a big fan of prefab, but do you think I could build a prefab in Kauai or the Big Island, Hawi, for a reasonable price? I know there are a multitude of things to consider, but it would be nice to get int a prefab, all in for 500K? Is that crazy thinking?

Best,

Eleni
