About the Polo Field

The rare 18.8-acre oceanfront parcel is currently being used as a world-class polo field, which is the oceanfront section that is for sale (a portion of the 2,740 acres). When it comes to polo, ranches, and equestrians, it can be a pretty rare sport for people to play on the island of Oahu. What you usually hear on the island of Oahu, is typically about people surfing, diving, and boating. Since Oahu is an island, land is very limited, and it is not like the mainland of the United States where there are ranches and forests everywhere. There is only a handful of polo fields and ranches on Oahu, and as this polo field is being available, you can tell that this is a unique and rare opportunity to acquire one of the finest ranches in Hawaii for investment, development or ranching and agricultural activities.

Sport of the Kings | History of Polo

In Hawaii, many people say that this sport was played by the kings and queens of Hawaii. According to Hawaii Polo Club, “Polo was introduced in Hawaii not via America, but from Asia, through an Australian cowboy visiting from India.” According to Hawaii News Now, Polo first caught on in Hawaii largely because of the efforts of Hawaii’s Merrie Monarch – King David Kalakaua enjoyed horse racing and polo, so he turned Kapiolani Park into a race track and a polo field.
