If you’ve been reading my blogs about Seniors, you know that I’ve been describing different groups of seniors. Of course, most of us at this age have more in common than not, but it’s fun to learn about the different paths we take in our golden years.

So, we’ve talked about Entrepreneurial Boomers, Grand Boomers, Sandwich Boomers, Adventure Boomers, and Uptown Boomers. Today, let’s talk about Traditional Boomers. Who are they? What is important to them? Are you a Traditional Boomer?

What is a Traditional Boomer?

If you love your home and consider it part of your identity, you may fit into this category. Our homes include memories. Memories of raising our children, family celebrations, and special moments. Traditional Boomers value their homes because their homes reflect their lives. If you are a Traditional Boomer, your home may be bigger than you need, but hey, that extra space might come in handy when the kids come for a visit. Besides, you like being a homeowner. Even if you decide to downsize, you’ll probably still opt for a single-family home. You might consider a senior-oriented “pocket neighborhood,” where you can still live in a single-family home among people with similar interests and mindsets.

Enjoy the Comforts of Home

Traditional Boomers want to age in place and truly enjoy the comforts of their own home. If you are a Traditional Boomer, you are probably pretty self-sufficient. You may still want to be engaged in some of your own home maintenance, but a low upkeep home and a little less maintenance may have some appeal. If you stay in your current home, you may even be ready to do those renovations you’ve been waiting to do all of your life.

Traditional Boomers love homes that reflect their love of family and friends. They are independent, but also very connected to those they love. If you are a Traditional Boomer you aren’t alone. Many of us fit into this category, including me. Of course, whether we are Entrepreneurial Boomers, Adventure Boomers, Grand Boomers, Sandwich Boomers, Uptown Boomers, or Traditional Boomers, we are all part of one of the biggest and best generations ever born! We are staying active, we are living longer, and we are living our best lives now!
